Tide and Timber

★★★★☆ 4.3 Editor rating

Tide and Timber is a slower, thoughtful strategy game about growing a string of harbor towns. You lay out roads and docks, set up trade between islands, and try to keep everyone fed before the storm season rolls in. There's a light survival edge but it never turns punishing, so it works well as a relaxing evening game.

The clever part is the tide system. Water levels shift on a cycle, opening and closing sea routes, so a shortcut you rely on at low tide vanishes hours later. Planning around that turned into my favorite part. The AI neighbors negotiate for resources, and while they're not geniuses, they push back enough to keep trades interesting.

It runs fine offline, which I appreciate, and progress saves cleanly between sessions. If you like builders that reward patience over reflexes, this one deserves a look.
